From Wrist Pain to Press-Up Gains: The Story Behind BearBar

For years, I avoided press-ups. Not because I didn’t want the strength, but because I couldn’t do them without pain. With carpal tunnel in my wrists, every attempt left me aching. It felt like more pain than progress.

And honestly, the push-up bars I've tried? They were clunky, plastic, and ugly. Some slipped around on hardwood floors. Others felt flimsy, like they might snap after a few weeks. Many had awkward handles that dug into my palms. None of them inspired me to keep training.

So I built something better. Something handmade, comfortable, and beautiful enough to actually leave out at home.

That’s how BearBar was born.

Why BearBar is Different

Each BearBar is handmade in London, crafted from natural wood with a warm, minimalist feel. The cork feet prevent slipping on hard floors, while the A-frame design is 3D-printed for stability and durability without excess bulk.

The 35 mm handle is designed for comfort. No awkward angles, no digging into your palm, just a “nice chunky grip” that makes every rep feel solid.

Unlike basic, mass-produced parallettes, BearBars combine aesthetics with function. They look like something you’d want in your home, not something you’d hide away. Compact, travel-friendly, and built to last.

What Other Push-Up Bars Get Wrong

If you’ve tried other bars, you’ll know the frustrations:

  • Wrist pain from pressing palms to the handle
  • Handles that feel flat and awkward in the hand
  • Cheap builds that seem ready to snap after a few weeks
  • Gear that slides around on smooth floors
  • Plain, uninspiring designs that look out of place in a home

BearBar was designed to fix all of this.

More Than Just a Push-Up Bar

With BearBars, press-ups are only the start:

  • Strength building: decline, diamond, and standard push-ups without wrist strain.
  • Core training: L-sits and planche progressions that challenge your midsection.
  • Resistance band combos: extra load without extra kit.
  • Yoga flow: from crow pose to handstands, BearBars add stability and confidence.

Even my kids use them. My daughter loves the pink set, and press-ups are now a family challenge instead of a dreaded chore.

Why It Works

BearBars deliver the outcomes people actually want:

  • Pain-free push-ups
  • Solid traction and stability
  • Comfortable, confidence-inspiring handles
  • A grip that feels natural and secure
  • A design that looks stylish in any space

Since switching, my own training has gone from painful to fun. My wrists feel stronger, I’m more consistent, and I finally look forward to press-ups.
